Would you like to get involved with your local FSB?
There are many ways you can get involved in FSB work in Northern Ireland, from promoting the organisation wherever you can, to joining a Committee.
You can...
- Talk to us and tell us your experiences as a small business owner - good and bad. If we can provide a real life example in the form of a case study, this will help add weight to a local or regional campaign.
- Use your voice - Take part in regional and national FSB petitions - they do work! Encourage suppliers, contacts and customers to sign them too!
- Promote the FSB to your contacts and suppliers, at events and conferences. The more members we have, the greater our voice when talking to the media, MPs, MEPs, MLAs and local authorities.
- Volunteer as a media spokesperson. If we can relate an issue to a real example, we are likely to get increased media coverage on the issue. This helps us to raise the issue further afield to the wider public, other small business owners and influential organisations and individuals.
- Come along to a branch or regional event where we can meet you, talk to you and get your perspective on business life. You will meet fellow members and learn more about businesses in your area. If you have some time to volunteer and wish to get more involved in FSB work on a more regular basis, why not join us as a Committee member?
- Regional Committee and AGM. Once a year a regional Annual General Meeting is held, usually in November, at which any FSB member from Northern Ireland is free to attend and put themselves forward as a candidate*. All those candidates who have submitted a nomination form for a specific role on the Committee must be elected by the attending members.
- Branch Committee and AGM. Also during October and November, each of the five branches hold their own Branch Annual General Meeting. Again the process is very similar to the Regional AGM as are the posts which are required to be filled. If you are keen to get involved in FSB work on a more local level, this is your opportunity. Alternatively you may become a general Committee member supporting the Branch Committee with various tasks.
