About Northern Ireland Policy

Making small business policies a priority...

The Northern Ireland Policy Unit was conceived in 1998 as a direct response to the establishment of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

Since then, the team has worked tirelessly to ensure the interests of Northern Ireland's small business sector remain at the core of policy development and implementation at all levels of government. With staff based in the FSB's Belfast office, the policy team is engaged in policy debates at all levels of government.

They respond to government consultations on behalf of the entire SME sector, engage with members and work in tandem with the Public Affairs department to ensure the work of the FSB remains to the fore in policy development and implementation. Their work contributes directly to the strategies, legislation and actions required to create the optimum conditions for small businesses in Northern Ireland to grow and prosper.

The Policy department works to provide an informed voice for the Small Business Community in Northern Ireland and to lobby Government and local political parties.

This section will provide you with policy documents, consultation responses and other related small business facts.

Press releases and additional information can be found in the press/media section.
