On 9 April Somerset FSB held a Small Business BIG VOTE meeting at The Rookery Manor in Weston-super-Mare. And were lucky enough to be able to welcome John Walker, the FSB National Chairman and Policy Chairman as our guest speaker and Peter Ashton, Chairman of the South West Policy Unit as our chairman.
We invited Prospective Parliamentary Candidates from all the main parties in all Somerset constituencies to attend and take the opportunity to find out more about the issues affecting small businesses and the recommendations the FSB are making in their own manifesto. All candidates were sent a copy of the manifesto in advance.
We also invited all members from across the region to join us and take the opportunity to raise their own questions and meet the candidates.
We were disappointed a the low turnout of candidates but delighted that those who did attend found it a very useful and enjoyable occasion where they could ask us questions and talk to real Somerset small businesses from a wide range of different business sectors. Since the event we have been praised in the press by some of these candidates and we are delighted we are hearing some of our own recommendations supported by different parties.
It seems that Small Businesses really are on the map!
If you missed the event, you can catch up by watching our videos below. The first is of John Walker's presentation of the FSB manifesto. The second is an interview with John Walker.
