Getting the right employees with the right skills and competancies is of vital importance to small businesses. Making sure that small businesses have access to appropriate training for their staff helps them to grow and develop as both indivudals and businesses.
New Apprenticeship scheme
We have long argued for an incentive payment to small businesses who take on an apprentice. The Government has recently launched a scheme for 40,000 grants to be made available.
There are a
suite of offers being made available to small businesses looking to take on an apprenticeship or pursue a youth contract.
Old Graduate Internship Scheme
In 2010-2011 we ran a successful scheme to help small businesses get access to the funded internships being offered by London's Universities in conjunction with government funding. This scheme allowed a small business to take on a graduate for 6 weeks with the graduate being paid a wage by the University.
