BUSINESS MEMBERSHIP GROUP (BMG)
Brief explanation of the LEP structure and the position and function of the BMG
The Gloucestershire LEP was approved by Parliament in May 2011
Gloucestershire LEP is a private sector led organisation with a Board of business people and with the remit of driving the county's economy.
The LEP is supported by the professional a team at GFirst, now based at Gloucester Docks, and guided by a "Business Advisory Group" that engages directly with the Board.
The "Business Advisory Group" is made up of the private sector leads of ten Industry Sector Groups and the private sector lead of the "Business Membership Group" (BMG).
The BMG consists of a team of 6 representatives of the larger business groups (Federation of Small Businesses, Confederation of British Industry, Institute of Directors, County Chamber of Commerce, Engineering Employers Federation & National Farmers Union) together with representatives of 6 geographical clusters of the many other business groups.
The purpose of the BMG is to represent the opinions and views of over twelve thousand businesses in the County and, through the LEP, to encourage them to contribute ideas and solutions that will lead to the success of Gloucestershire's economy.
