 The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) is the UK's largest member-led lobbying organisation that promotes the interests of its membership of small businesses and the self-employed.

The FSB has a membership of over 210,000 members across 33 UK regions. Established in 1974 the FSB now employs over 130 employees, and is a significant voice for small and medium sized businesses, supporting and lobbying for their interests. As a result of continued growth to support the ongoing programme of improved services to members, from time to time we recruit new staff.

 
 
ACCOUNTS OFFICER

 

Blackpool

(35 hours per week)

SALARY: £17,136 rising to £20,160 upon completion of a probationary period
 

An opportunity has arisen within the Accounts Department for an Accounts Officer. This person will help in providing an effective and efficient accounting service for the FSB.

The successful applicant will work as part of a team undertaking all aspects of accounting procedures. High numeracy and IT skills are essential along with accuracy and attention to detail, a positive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet daily deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience of working in a busy accounts environment and with computerised accounting systems is desirable. Part qualification is also desirable but not essential.

Deputy Head of Public Affairs

Central London

(35 hours per week)

Salary £37,392, rising to £43,980 upon completion of a probationary period

Reporting into the Head of Public Affairs, you will work to promote FSB policy, corporate work and promotional events within Parliament. You will input into the FSB's strategic and marketing plans, act as Deputy Chief Media Spokesperson, and deputise for the Head of Public Affairs where required. In addition, you will be responsible for managing a team of 3 press officers and need to build key internal relationships with the policy team and across the organisation regionally to ensure consistent messages are communicated effectively.

 

The ideal applicant will have extensive public affairs and media experience. Expert knowledge of Westminster and Whitehall is essential, as is an understanding of the how the media operates both nationally and regionally. Applicants must be able to adopt a strict non-party political approach on all issues handled by the FSB. Staff management experience would be advantageous.

Senior Press Officer

 

Central London

(35 Hours Per Week)

Salary £33,780, rising to £39,744 upon completion of a probationary period

 

Reporting into the Deputy Head of Public Affairs you will act as front line media spokesperson in both print and broadcast media to safeguard and enhance the reputation of the FSB and its members. You will review and update the London media relations strategy with the Head of Public Affairs and work closely with the London Policy Unit and Deputy Head of Public Affairs to monitor emerging issues and the media aspect of FSB campaigns.

 

Applicants must have extensive media experience, understand the workings of the media regionally and nationally and have an understanding of new media. A good working knowledge of Westminster, Whitehall and EU institutions is also essential.
