The Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership aims to deliver a better quality of life for all those who live and work in the area, believing that through one strong voice it can effect change by improving South Essex for years to come.

It is committed to helping deliver 55,000 new jobs and 43,800 new homes to the region by 2021 through regeneration.

Together with local communities and businesses we identify and agree the regeneration priorities for the whole area and deal with central Government Departments with a unified voice.

Employment

There are currently more than 230,000 people employed in the Thames Gateway South Essex economy, with an ambitious target of 55,000 additional jobs to be created by 2012.

Around 55,000 people commute to London every day, but in return over 70,000 commute into the area to work.

Employment rates are high, but there is a significant amount of part time and low value work in sectors such as retail and distribution.
