Thames Estuary Airport

Essex FSB believes that the demand for air travel will not significantly decline.

If any future government decides not to proceed with expansion in Stansted Airport's operations then an alternative is required and the investigation by the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, into the possible development of a Thames Estuary Airport will make interesting reading.

A case for the new aiport was made in January 2011 in A New Hub Airport For London

Essex FSB believes that creating a whole new airport in the Thames Estuary is not financially feasible due to the investment that would also be required in road and rail infrastructure. Any such funding available would be better spent upgrading existing infrastructure including London Southend Airport and London Stansted Airport.
