The weather remained dry and there were lots of interactive and interesting activities on offer - something for everyone!

Essex FSB met with members visiting the show and was able to give some, an update and reminder on FSB benefits to ensure they were getting the best from their membership. Just to make sure you are, please visit our Member Benefits page.

The Region's newest recruiter Vaseem Gill, signed up two new businesses on the day and has others who expressed a keen interest in becoming a member.Nick Alston, a prospective candidate for Essex Police & Crime Commissioner visited the stand and chatted with FSB committee members about the forthcoming election in November.

The stand was also visited by future Entrepreneurs interested in starting up their own business and the team were able to signpost them to various resources and they left with lots of FSB information too.

Hopefully we got the opportunity to meet you at the show but if we didn't, we'll be there again next year!

Differing viewpoints were shared including environmental issues, the reality of delivering schemes such as an airport in the Thames Estuary, the cost to business of delays and increased tolls on the Dartford Crossing, employment and jobs for local people, and of course the Governments Cabinet reshuffle earlier in the day and how that would affect any transport policy and small businesses.

Two messages that came from the evening were:

  • The UK needs to see a properly integrated transport infrastructure
  • Any proposals that come forward from Government need to consider not only the short to medium term, but the long term viability and capacity so that new infrastructure benefits the economy far into the future.
