The closure of Post Offices in Essex, Havering and Redbridge hits small businesses as it means a reduction in service for local firms.
Essex FSB has opposed such closures.
Essex Scheme
Essex FSB first asked Essex County Council to take action to support Post Offices theatened with closure in 2006 and were delighted that in 2008 The Essex Post Office Initiative was launched which includes £1.5million for a three year programme of support for such Post Offices.

Post Bank
The Post Office network is a unique national resource. Communities, businesses and individuals all depend on it. It should both be protected and grown.
A Post Bank based on the Post Office is the best way of strengthening the Post Office by building up and extending its current financial services and securing its future.
It is paramount that there are no further closures of post offices.
Post offices are tied to their local communities. The Post Bank would be an economic driver, lending at small margins, supporting local enterprise rather than global speculation.
