With major ports including Harwich and Tilbury Essex has traditionally had a long history of professionals working in the Ports related industries thanks to the county's extensive coastline.

Many of those skills are now at risk of disappearing as few apprentices have been recruited in recent years.

The Essex County Council Apprenticeship Scheme aims to provide help to businesses in the ports sector wishing to recruit an apprentice.
