MId Norfolk Branch
Public Sector Procurement
Earlier this year, Mid Norfolk Branch organised three separate public sector procurement presentations
- Anton Bull – Head of Procurement at Norwich City Council,
- Drew Taylor – A/Head of Procurement at Norfolk Constabulary.
- David Coulson – Senior Exec London 2012 Business Support at EEDA (Compete for)
We asked that they come along and speak candidly about "how small businesses can approach public sector procurement". I judge these events as largely successful, though as with all these things, it's what is actually done by those that attended that matters.....there is a salespersons saying that "the fortune is in the follow up".
To those that have followed up, I sincerely hope some new opportunities have opened up for you. For those that for what-ever reason have not, and for all those that would like to explore further this potential avenue for new business, the links are below....
Norwich City Council: Send an email to their Procurement Department stating that you wish to become a supplier to Norwich City Council. They will ask you a bit about your company and ask you to fill out a Pre Qualification Questionnaire (PQQ) and off you go.
Norfolk Constabulary: Register free on their Bluelight Website
Compete For: Please go to the CompeteFor Website - quite a convoluted process to sign up, but this site is extensively used by public sector organisations all over the UK, and there are literally thousands of contracts on there.
If you encounter any problems please let me know, and I will sort it. Conversely, if you have signed-up to one of the above, and got some business as a consequence, I would love to hear about it.
I will be organising further procurement events in the Autumn, and would be very appreciative of your ideas for, and support of, these events.
Further to our Mid Norfolk FSB Branch Officers meeting on 12th September 2011 with Colin Bottjer (Senior Procurement Specialist – Commodities, at Norfolk County Council) please find listed below some useful links to Norfolk County Councils website.
