Backing Young Suffolk (BYS)
BYS have produced an Employers Guide to the Employability Charter, which offers young people the opportunity to display the essential standards that employers look for in the world of work, education and training.
Suffolk Enterprise Project for Schools - "The Art of Running a Business"
In Suffolk the FSB's approach is that we want to work with schools to enable students to understand business. We actively work with partners such as Suffolk Young Chamber and BT to develop a process to bring education and business together.
An example of the work we have been doing is a dvd of our Suffolk Enterprise Project 2010, which was created by media students at Suffolk New College.
The Project will lead the students towards an understanding of how a small business can survive and grow through good marketing. The judges will be looking to see how clearly the students understand the various aspects of a business and how they arrive at a strategy for its future.
The Project will also encourage students to work with others, negotiate, communicate effectively, participate, propose and present their collective ideas. It will also encourage them to look at the wider community outside of the school gates and consider local entrepreneurial spirit happening around them.
