We hear a lot about how small & micro businesses are going to be the drivers of our economic fortunes, and it's all too easy to think that nothing ever happens.
Yet when we look around the Region we can see a tremendous level of investment coming through NEPIC, Hitachi, Nissan and Akzo Nobel, (aka Dulux & Polycell), with a £100m environmentally friendly production plant in Ashington , (an investment won over both India and China), surely all major endorsements in a range of sectors right across our Region and each one with small and micro businesses integral to them.
We are working with the Rural Growth Network in encouraging entrepreneurship and investment and growth in our rural villages and towns – the NE FSB has roughly 1,500 members in rural areas.
In the coming months we will be campaigning on the issues that matter most to our members including late payments, energy and fuel prices and, of course, banks and access to finance.
