John Wright visits Reservists in Afghanistan

John Wright in AfghanistanThe FSB'S National Chairman John Wright joined reservists in Afghanistan in January as part of the Ministry of Defence and SaBRE's campaign to raise awareness amongst employers of the valuable skills Reservists develop through training and to see the valuable role the Reserve Forces are playing in the country.

Part of the Employers Abroad Programme, the group visited Camp Bastion, Kandahar and Kabul during the four day visit and met a number of Reservists who are serving alongside the Regular Forces.

"Visiting Afghanistan and seeing firsthand the wide variety of roles Reservists have really underlines how crucial they are to the Armed Forces' effort and many of the reservists I've met in Afghanistan have talked about how important it is to them to have the support of their employer. Without this support it would be much more difficult for them to do the brilliant jobs they are doing today.

"Reservists undergo rigorous training and gain new and highly valuable skills which can be easily transferred into the workplace. But the FSB understands the immense pressure many small businesses in the UK are under today and are therefore pleased to be working with SaBRE to ensure small businesses are able to access advice and support on employing a Reservist."
