The FSB has created a London Survey Panel. Small business owners on
the panel will be consulted on a monthly basis and their views will help
shaps FSB policy on a range of issues. The "tracking questions" will
also help create the definitive picture of the state of the micro and
small business sector.
2011
The FSB is calling for Practical policies to avoid stagnation and for the promotion of growth on the back of concerning figures arising from results in the second quarter of 2011.
Key outcomes from the FSB ‘Voice of Small Business' Index in London:
- The Small Business Index declined to a level that indicates uncertainty in the coming three months, reflecting the effects of an ongoing sluggish recovery
- With the Small Business Index standing at +0.1, London is close to the national average for its business outlook. This compares badly with a London ‘index' score of +5 in the previous quarter.
- 36 per cent of businesses expect business prospects to improve in the next three months compared to 30 per cent who expect prospects to worsen.
- Nearly a half of businesses (47%) have seen a decrease in their sales/revenues in the last three months. Compared to only 27% that have seen an increase.
