FSB Devon have launched their third annual Business Awards.  Delia Colegate, the Regional Manager for the FSB, said ‘Last year's Awards were a huge success and this year we have added some new categories with the aim of giving all businesses the opportunity to enter at least one of the categories.  In the present economic climate it is even more important to recognise and celebrate the fantastic businesses we have in Devon.'

This year, the categories are as follows, the application forms are linked to the relvant category :

• Business Award for Service Excellence 
• Business Award for Environmental Responsibility  
• Business Award for Training and Development
• Business Award for IT in Business
• Business Award for Enterprise & Endeavour  
• Business Award for Best Young Entrepreneur  
• Business Award for the Employee of the Year

The new category of ‘Enterprise and Endeavour' will allow businesses to show how they are successfully surviving in these challenging economic times by being innovative and adaptable. 

Last year's County Winners,  were HavMain and Chris Havill, Director, said

"Becoming the FSB Devon Business Awards County Winner in 2009 has had some welcome and unexpected results for HavMain. The awards really helped to raise the profile of our company and gave us an audience to shout about all the hard work we've put in over the last couple of years. There has also been a visible effect on staff morale which has received a battering during the recession. Most importantly with the increased publicity we have received and benefitted from some high profile enquiries and invitations we would not otherwise have anticipated. In Devon it will be the strength of the small to medium enterprise that will underpin our ability to rise from this recession. Celebrating the success of these local businesses at a time where larger corporations are centralising their operations and moving skills away from Devon is crucial. The category winners will receive a cheque for £250 and a trophy and the County Winner will receive a cheque for £1,000 and a trophy.

Closing date for entries is 19th March 2010 and the shortlisted applicants will be announced on 19th April 2010
