Prior to the local council elections on May 6, 2010, the London Policy Unit compiled 32 local manifestos, one for each London Borough (excluding the City of London) outlining what local councils can do to give a better deal for small businesses.
The elections were held in the context of the worst recession in the post Second World War period and it is vital that Local Authorities support local micro and small businesses to help London make its way out of the economic downturn. The manifestos can be found in the drop down menu.
To supplement the manifestos, we have put together a document we have provisionally entitled Ten Commandments detailing the overarching principles which councils need to adopt.

We have also produced background briefing papers with further details on the issues in the manifestos for FSB members.
We launched the manifesto at the FSB National Conference held in Aberdeen on 18-20 March 2010.
Membershave been taking the manifestos out to local council candidates to lobby them on small business issues, now and after the election.
